Maintaining Blood Glucose Levels
Posted on August 29th, 2009 9 commentsAs a person with diabetes we have numerous fights on our hands. One of them is to keep our blood glucose levels in the proper range. If we don’t listen to our body and take the proper steps for our health, then we only have ourselves to blame… or should it be that way?
If we concentrate on blame then we lose sight of the steps we should take for control. Keep this in mind; if your blood glucose level is at or around 300, your blood is as thick as Karo syrup. It puts unnecessary pressure on your heart because it is harder to pump the thick blood throughout your body and since it is thicker it does not get to the areas that it should. These areas for example are the eyes, fingertips, and toes and the complications begin. Some people I have met do not have a clue why this is happening and others go to their doctor and still do not make the changes to lower their glucose levels.
Here is the question of the day: What do you do to keep your blood glucose levels in check?
Your solution may not work for everyone, but it could make a difference in someones life. So don’t be shy, let it fly. You are reading this now, so why not reply… you know you want to.

Is there too much info out there?
Posted on March 6th, 2009 19 commentsHere’s a question for you… do you really practice or consistently utilize the information you read in regard to your diabetes care. Yes, there are plenty of outstanding articles out there and they are very informative, but do you take them to heart and follow the advice as written?
Let’s be totally honest, I don’t know anyone that follows the medical suggestions to a tee. In this day and age it may be impossible. If we care about ourselves and the people that love us, we do try very hard to control our diabetes. Let’s face it, we are human and have our days because it is very hard, but we give it our best.
Ok, while I’m on this rant… who is REALLY working on a cure??? Is it a lot of smoke and mirrors, incredibly smart lobbyist’s, business leaders? God I hope they aren’t connected to Wall Street or to AIG or the big banks because we are all in trouble if they are. Now that some of these big companies and ultra rich investment people are taking a nose dive and taking a lot of people down with them… the truth will come out on a lot more cover-ups in the near future. The government is poking around and will uncover the big business cover-ups and we will hear all about it on the news for days to come.
I said all of that to say this… is what we read and hear really ALL the truth? Is it really in our best interest or is it in the best interest of those who control our lives with what we need to survive? Hey it’s just a thought. What do you think?
